Insomnia

Insomnia means ‘no sleep’ or inability to sleep. Insomnia is an experience of inadequate or poor quality of sleep usually seen with one or more of the following complaints:

  • Difficulty falling asleep
  • Difficulty staying asleep
  • Waking up too early in the morning or
  • Having sleep is non-refreshing.

How To Identify Insomnia Symptoms

  • During Day if you feel unrefreshed throughout the day, feeling fatigued, irritable or sleepy, having poor concentration or attention.

Types of insomnia

Acute insomnia - ​​Acute insomnia refers to short-term sleeping difficulties that generally last no more than a few weeks.

Chronic insomnia - Chronic insomnia refers to insomnia that affects your sleep for 3 or more days each week on a regular basis, typically for a period of 3 months or longer.

Onset insomnia - Onset insomnia describes difficulty falling asleep. Trouble getting to sleep might happen as a result of caffeine use, mental health symptoms, or other common insomnia triggers, but it can also develop with other sleep disorders.

Maintaining sleep hygiene, can help in restoring normal sleep.

  • Try minimizing the time u spend sleepless on your bed.
  • Limit noise and light in the bedroom at night.
  • Limit day time naps
  • Exercise regularly
  • Set a regular bedtime and stick to it.
